Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Transport & Fleet Operations Manager to take ownership of our transport operation and help drive the business to the next level.
This is a senior management position where you'll have real responsibility, the authority to make decisions and the opportunity to influence the future of one of the fastest growing recovery businesses in the UK.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll be responsible for leading the day to day transport operation, ensuring our fleet, drivers and operational teams continue to deliver the highest levels of service, safety and compliance.
You'll oversee approximately 55-60 professional drivers, 40 specialist recovery vehicles and work closely with our experienced control room team to maintain exceptional operational standards.
Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for:
- Managing driver performance, attendance and productivity.
- Leading, motivating and developing transport teams.
- Fleet maintenance planning, inspections, servicing and defect management.
- Operator Licence compliance and transport legislation.
- Vehicle utilisation and operational efficiency.
- Driver hours, tachograph monitoring and Working Time compliance.
- Health & Safety across transport operations.
- Recruitment, inductions and ongoing driver development.
- Investigation of incidents, accidents and compliance matters.
- Working alongside the Operations Manager to continually improve business performance.
- Supporting future growth, fleet expansion and new contract mobilization.
- Working Hours 06.00am - 18.00hrs.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience managing transport or fleet operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the confidence to manage large teams.
- Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
- Good knowledge of transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements.
- Experience managing fleet maintenance and compliance.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to continually improve standards.
Experience within vehicle recovery, roadside assistance or emergency services is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
