The Junior Infrastructure Engineer supports the delivery and maintenance of the organisation’s infrastructure, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and meet business needs. Working within the TechOps team, this role assists with day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and incident investigation work across servers, networks, storage, and cloud platforms. The Junior Engineer is key to providing responsive support, learning new technologies, and contributing to the smooth running of infrastructure that underpins the organisation’s activities.
What you'll be doing
Assist with the monitoring, maintenance, and support of infrastructure (servers, networks, storage, cloud).
Respond to incidents and service requests, escalating as needed.
Support the implementation of infrastructure changes and upgrades.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for systems and processes.
Participate in routine system checks, backups, and patching activities.
Follow IT policies, security standards, and data protection requirements.
Collaborate with other team members and teams to resolve issues.
Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity activities.
Provide basic technical support and guidance to end users.
Proactively develop technical skills and knowledge through training and mentoring.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Recent, commercial experience working within IT Infrastructure.
Basic understanding of Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, M365).
Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
Good problem-solving and communication abilities.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Relevant IT qualification (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft Fundamentals, or equivalent).
Participation in IT-related projects or extracurricular activities.
