Bar Manager (Summer Pop-Up) – High-Volume Beachside Venue
We are seeking dynamic, high-energy, and resilient Bar Managers to lead the beverage operations at our brand-new beach restaurant and bar popping up right on the sands of Bournemouth for the summer season. Featuring two distinct bars on-site—one serving our vibrant dine-in restaurant and a second high-turnaround bar dedicated to takeaway service—this is a fast-paced environment that requires a master of high-volume logistics.
From keeping the draught flowing to syncing with live music acts and keeping a packed beach crowd happy, you’ll be the heartbeat of our summer beverage operations. As a key leader on site, you will play a crucial role in maintaining venue compliance and managing a vibrant, busy public space safely and legally.
Duties
- Dual-Bar Oversight: Effectively manage two high-volume bar operations simultaneously: a full-service bar for the sit-down restaurant and a rapid-turnaround takeaway hatch.
- Team Leadership & Rotas: Recruit, train, motivate, and manage a fast-moving team of bartenders and barbacks. Create smart, flexible staff rotas that adapt seamlessly to shifting weather patterns and peak beach days.
- Stock & Cellar Control: Take full ownership of stock management, ordering, and weekly line checks. Maintain an extensive beverage program featuring a wide range of draught and bottled beers/ciders, wines, premium cocktails, and soft drinks, ensuring the bars never run dry.
- Compliance & Crowd Safety: Actively manage the venue as a busy public space, ensuring strict adherence to licensing objectives. Coordinate closely with our security team to safely handle capacities, age verification (Challenge 25), guest flow, and dispersal.
- Entertainment & Atmosphere: Coordinate closely with our live music acts, DJs, and bands, managing sets and sound levels to keep the beach party vibe alive while maintaining excellent guest relations and legal noise boundaries.
Experience & Requirements
- Licensing Qualifications: A valid Personal Licence is preferable. You must possess a strong, practical understanding of current licensing laws and compliance regulations.
- Public Space Management: Proven experience managing safety, crowds, and operations in a busy, high-footfall public space or open-air/festival venue.
- High-Volume Management Experience: Experience as a Bar Manager or Assistant Bar Manager in a high-pressure, fast-paced venue or major summer pop-up.
- Logistical Wizardry: Strong organizational skills with expertise in managing complex stock lists, high-turnover cellar logistics, and variable team rotas.
- Summer Commitment: Reliability and stamina to commit to the full 3-month summer sprint (July – September).
