Engineering Manager – Electrical Manufacturing
Location: Staffordshire / West Midlands
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 5:15pm | Friday 8:00am – 12:00pm
Concept Resources are recruiting for an established and growing electrical manufacturing business who are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its engineering function and support continued business growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive engineering leader to drive product development, manufacturing excellence, engineering governance, and continuous improvement within a technically challenging and customer-focused environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects, product development activities, and manufacturing support functions.
You will provide technical leadership across the business, ensuring compliance with industry standards, maintaining robust engineering processes, and driving improvements in quality, efficiency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of design, process, manufacturing, and test engineers.
- Define and implement engineering strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee the design and development of electrical products and systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Manage engineering change control processes including ECNs and ECOs.
- Maintain document control, configuration management, and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
- Support manufacturing operations through process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
- Manage engineering projects to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and engineering excellence.
- Act as a technical authority for customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Support commercial activities through the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs), labour estimates, and technical costing information.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience leading engineering teams within an electrical manufacturing environment and possess strong technical and organisational skills.
Essential
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven engineering leadership experience within manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and applicable standards.
- Experience with machine safety requirements and engineering risk assessments.
- Experience managing structured engineering processes including ECN/ECO systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience in control panels, automation, switchgear, or industrial electrical systems.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, and PLM systems.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
- Experience supporting quotations through BOM development and labour estimation.
