Autism Teaching Assistant
Sense Education is currently partnering with a SEND school who are looking to recruit a Autism Teaching Assistant.
As an Autism teaching assistant you will support pupils with a range of special educational needs, complex learning difficulties, and communication challenges. You’ll work closely with class teachers and other professionals to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child can reach their potential.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Working in small groups or 1-1 settings
- Differentiating learning to meet a wide range of abilities
- Create a safe and nurturing and consistent learning environment
- Provide encouragement and motivation - in class, during activities, or in the playground
- Act as a reliable adult role model, supporting pupils social and emotional development
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement individual support plans
- Supporting with communication, including children with non-verbal Autism
What we are looking for:
- Experience supporting children with complex needs
- Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent (NVQ, CACHE, Degree, or equivalent)
- A calm, patient and empathic approach
- Passion for SEND, a committed and passionate approach for working with students who have SEND
- Strong communication skills and teamwork skills
- A flexible and proactive approach to supporting individual needs

Role Type: Full time / Part time / Temp - Perm
Pay Rate: £14.60 - £16.90 per hour

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
