Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated multi-trade / carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing projects on-site and in workshop environments, including several kitchens, bathrooms, wall panelling and door fitting. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in a variety of onsite tasks including carpentry and joinery to contribute to diverse building projects and general construction work. The position is suitable for those who are detail-oriented, physically fit, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will be offered a work van and supplied with tools. They will be automatically enrolled into a pension scheme, and will be entitled to sick pay and paid holiday.
Must have a clean driving license and good work ethic. The job is full time, and we’re based in Exeter but do work all over the South West.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom woodwork and joinery components using hand tools and power tools with precision.
- Assemble structures such as frameworks, partitions, and fixtures in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
- Install wooden elements on-site, ensuring accurate fitting and alignment.
- Assist with roofing tasks, including the installation of roof trusses and related components.
- Perform heavy lifting of materials safely to support construction activities.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety standards at all times.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople such as electricians, plumbers, and masons to ensure seamless project completion.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in this trade is essential.
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the working day.
- Physical fitness to work on-site for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Relevant qualifications or apprenticeships in carpentry or joinery are preferred but not mandatory.
