Are you an experienced Complex Carer with paediatric and tracheostomy experience? Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child's life?
We are currently recruiting for a caring, reliable, and experienced Complex Carer to support a 10-year-old girl within a school setting in Northampton.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is confident providing complex care to children and who can offer consistent, compassionate support throughout the school day.
Please note: Tracheostomy training and experience are essential for this role. Candidates without relevant tracheostomy experience will not be considered.
About the Role
As a Complex Carer, you will provide one-to-one care and support to a 10-year-old girl during her time at school. You will work alongside school staff, the child's family, and healthcare professionals to ensure she is safe, comfortable, and able to participate in school life as fully as possible.
You will need to be confident managing complex healthcare needs, recognising changes in the child's condition, and responding appropriately should an emergency arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support throughout the school day.
- Provide safe and competent tracheostomy care.
- Monitor the child's health and respond appropriately to any changes in her condition.
- Administer medication and first aid in accordance with care plans and relevant policies.
- Respond calmly and confidently to medical emergencies.
- Support the child to access classroom activities and participate in school life.
- Provide emotional reassurance and encouragement.
- Promote independence and support age-appropriate activities wherever possible.
- Work closely with teachers, school staff, parents/carers, and healthcare professionals.
- Follow individual healthcare plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures, and care protocols.
- Maintain accurate and confidential care and medical records.
- Communicate effectively with everyone involved in the child's care.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in tracheostomy care – essential.
- Experienced in providing complex care to children or young people.
- Ideally experienced within a paediatric or school setting.
- Calm, confident, and able to respond effectively in an emergency.
- Caring, patient, compassionate, and child-focused.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Able to work independently while also working effectively as part of a wider team.
- Confident communicating with children, parents, school staff, and healthcare professionals.
- Knowledgeable about safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Able to maintain accurate care documentation.
Care experience of at least 1 year is preferred.
