About us:
Established in 1994, ND Services is a roadside breakdown and recovery company based in the south, providing repair and recovery services across the UK. With car and commercial workshops on site, we deal with everything from simple roadside faults to complex recovery operations.
Why we’re hiring:
Due to continued growth and increasing operational demands, we are looking for a calm, methodical and reliable individual to join our recovery control room team. This role suits someone who naturally pays attention to small details, likes to plan work properly, and takes satisfaction from seeing a plan carried through correctly.
Please note: this is not a standard call handling or office admin role. It involves listening carefully, processing technical and non technical information, making sound decisions, and coordinating multiple moving parts in real time. If you are looking for a purely reactive role or something with minimal responsibility, this will not be the right fit. If you enjoy structure, accountability and problem solving, we can train you in the industry side.
The role:
We are seeking a Breakdown and Recovery Dispatcher to plan, coordinate and monitor roadside and recovery jobs for our drivers, technicians and network partners. You will be responsible for understanding what has gone wrong with a vehicle based on customer or technician information, deciding what resources are required, and ensuring the job is executed correctly from start to finish.
You do not need mechanical qualifications, but you must be comfortable listening to mechanical explanations, asking the right questions, and making sense of technical information in order to make good decisions.
Alongside dispatching, you will also support our on site maintenance operation by coordinating bookings, ordering parts, and managing admin for commercial fleet customers with ongoing servicing and inspection requirements.
Good UK geographical awareness, particularly locally, is important, as is an interest in how transport operations and vehicles work in practice.
This is a Monday to Friday day shift, 8am to 5pm.
Key responsibilities:
Planning and allocating the correct recovery vehicle and technician for each job
- Taking calls from customers and breakdown organisations and accurately assessing vehicle issues
- Listening carefully to information from drivers and technicians and acting on it correctly
- Managing jobs through the APEX recovery system with a high level of accuracy
- Coordinating scheduling and admin for fleet maintenance customers
- Dispatching work in a way that matches vehicle capability, location and urgency
- Handling card payments and preparing job sheets for invoicing
What we need from you:
- A naturally organised and detail focused approach to work
- Someone who enjoys planning, structure and seeing tasks through properly
- The ability to absorb, interpret and act on technical information, even if it is new to you
- Clear, confident and professional communication skills
- A strong sense of responsibility and follow through
- Solid computer skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs without losing accuracy
In return we’ll offer:
- Full training and ongoing development funded by the company
- A supportive, experienced team environment
- Clear opportunities to grow as the business develops
- Company pension scheme
- Employee discounts
- 28 days holiday
Please note:
If you do not have direct experience but believe this describes how you work and think, please include a short cover note explaining why this role suits you.
At ND Services, we value reliability, judgement and mindset over job titles. If you are someone who likes doing things properly, communicating clearly, and being trusted with responsibility, we would like to hear from you.
