Shop Butcher

Owen Taylor & Sons is looking for an experienced Shop Butcher to join our retail team and help us maintain the high standards of quality and customer service we have built over the past 100 years.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about quality, ethically sourced meat and takes pride in providing knowledgeable, friendly service to every customer.
The role
As a Shop Butcher, you will:
- Prepare, cut and display a wide range of quality meat products
- Serve customers and offer helpful product and cooking advice
- Maintain attractive, well-stocked retail displays
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and cleaning procedures
- Help maintain the excellent quality and service standards associated with Owen Taylor & Sons
- Work closely with the wider shop team to provide a welcoming customer experience
About you
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous shop or retail butchery experience
- Possess strong practical butchery skills
- Be customer-focused, friendly and approachable
- Have a genuine interest in quality, ethically sourced meat
- Take pride in presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail
- Be reliable and comfortable working as part of a team
- Be flexible regarding working hours
Hours and pay
Our shop operates six days a week.
Mon-Thurs 07.00 to 17.00
Fri 07.00 to 17.30
Sat 07.00 to 14.00
The successful candidate will normally work five shifts, with some flexibility required.
Pay is £14–£15 per hour, with the final rate negotiable depending on skills and experience. Working hours and the full employment package will be discussed at interview.
