Workshop Technician
Workshop location: Clothall Bury, Clothall Rd, Baldock SG7 6RJ
Salary Range: £26,000–£32,000 DOE
The role of the Workshop Technician is to manufacture bespoke timber-framed garden room components to a consistently high standard and prepare every project for installation, from building wall panels and cutting roof panels and trims, to picking, loading and keeping the workshop running smoothly.
You will have the support of the Workshop Lead and ensure that every garden room project leaves the workshop complete, accurate, and on time. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands-on carpentry or joinery experience who is looking to develop their skills in garden room manufacturing.
A typical day looks like:
- Receiving a garden room project drawing and technical specification, checking the details and raising any questions with the Workshop Manager before manufacture begins.
- Preparing the timber and materials needed to build the garden room components.
- Manufacturing bespoke components, building timber wall panels and cutting roof panels and metal trims accurately and safely.
- Double-checking your completed work against the drawings so every component is accurate and ready for site.
- Completing picking lists and helping load the vehicles, ensuring each project leaves the workshop complete and securely loaded.
- Receiving and checking deliveries, carrying out stock checks and storing materials safely in the correct locations.
- Wrapping up the day, tidying the workshop, disposing of waste correctly and making sure machinery, lights and the compressor are switched off safely.
About you:
- You have experience in timber construction, joinery, or general construction with wood materials
- Experience working with a variety of hand and power tools
- A good eye for detail and quality of workmanship
- Clean, tidy and well-organised
- Comfortable working in a workshop environment that is partially open to the elements, with changing temperatures throughout the year
- Full clean UK driving licence and own transport essential.
- Desirable: GCSE in English and Maths
