Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Apprentice Nursery Practitioner to join our early childhood education team in our nursery in Canada Water, London.
The apprenticeship position is a full time position, working 40 hours across 5 days, between the hours of 7:15am and 6:30pm. As well as being given comprehensive on the job training, you will work towards a recognised childcare qualification.
This paid apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to develop management and leadership skills while gaining practical experience working with children in a nurturing nursery environment. The successful candidate will support daily nursery activities, assist in caring for children, and contribute to creating a safe and stimulating space for young learners. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about childcare and eager to build a career in early years education.
Responsibilities
- Assist qualified nursery practitioners in supervising and caring for children aged 0-5 years
- Support the organisation of age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within the nursery setting
- Engage with children through play, storytelling, and educational activities to encourage social and emotional development
- Observe and record children's progress, behaviour, and interests to inform future planning
- Support the implementation of nursery policies and procedures relating to health, safety, and child protection
- Contribute to effective communication with parents and team members regarding children's needs and achievements
- Assist in managing daily routines such as meal times, nap times, and outdoor play
Requirements
- Genuine interest in working with children and early childhood education
- Previous nursery or childcare experience is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively within a team, demonstrating management and leadership potential
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Confidence in working with children of various ages, fostering their development through engaging activities
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for travel between nursery locations or community outings
- A responsible attitude towards health & safety regulations and safeguarding policies
Whilst previous experience working in a nursery is not necessary, you should have a real passion for working with children.
