Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Compliance Officer to join our dynamic team. The role will cover ICO/UK GDPR, SRA and FCA compliance, audit, governance, supplier due diligence and compliance training.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs aligned with current legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks to verify adherence to policies and identify areas for improvement.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, providing timely updates and training to staff members.
- Investigate compliance issues or breaches, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to embed compliance measures into daily operations and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare detailed reports on compliance status, audit results, and risk assessments for senior management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections or inquiries, ensuring transparent communication.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in legal compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality assurance within a corporate environment.
- Strong understanding of legal standards applicable to the industry, including data protection, privacy laws, and corporate governance.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable policies.
- Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong organizational skills for managing multiple audits and documentation processes.
- Effective communication skills to train staff, report findings clearly, and liaise with external regulators.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, or a related field; advanced certifications in compliance or legal studies are a plus.
- Nice-to-have: experience in quality assurance practices that enhance compliance effectiveness.

A qualified solicitor is preferred, particularly with experience in regulatory compliance, consumer finance, financial services, data protection or an SRA-regulated environment.
