Job Description
I am a 44-year-old woman with a serious physical disability who uses an electric wheelchair. I am currently looking for someone to join my small team of personal assistants who provide 24/7 care.
The ideal candidates will be female, honest, kind, flexible and totally reliable. You must be able to work in a calm and methodical manner. A good sense of humour and the ability to amuse yourself during downtime is also essential.
I have shifts available:
Monday to Thursday 17:00 - 08:30 (some flexibility may be required)
You can apply for some or all the above shifts. There will also be ad hoc shifts available sporadically to cover for leave etc.
My disability means that I rely on my personal assistants for all physical activities, such as dressing, eating and personal care (toileting, washing etc). Due to the physical aspects of the job, you need to be confident in your physical abilities, as there is a lot of moving and handling involved.
The successful candidates will also provide general housekeeping duties (cleaning, cooking etc) and will accompany me on social outings with my friends and family. You will need to be able to drive my adapted vehicle, so a clean driving license is essential. As the shifts are overnight, you will have your own ensuite bedroom in my house.
Previous experience in care is not necessary, as detailed on the job training will be given, but a willingness to learn is essential.
All tax and National Insurance will be processed by me as your employer and a pension scheme is available.
