We are seeking three Highway Engineers to join our team that are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the Council’s Highway Network to ensure that the Borough is safe and accessible for all road users.
We are seeking enthusiastic people with engineering experience of working within a Highway related environment and have a proactive approach to deliver positive outcomes for our residents.
You will be part of a high performing and ambitious team who will support and encourage you to achieve your goals and thrive to keep improving your knowledge.
You and the team are often the first point of contact for our service, responding to all traffic and maintenance enquiries received in a timely manner and always trying to address the concerns raised. These enquiries are received from our residents and businesses, Ward Members, Parish Councils and other statutory bodies so excellent communication skills are essential.
These roles include the design and delivery of maintenance and improvement schemes through our highway contract. You will be responsible for undertaking designs, raising works orders including bill of quantities, liaising with our contractors and agreeing payments. You will need to ensure that we deliver high quality, value for money schemes for our residents.
We have an important interface with our residents so we would welcome applicants who are committed to providing a consistent and excellent standard of service by putting them at the centre of everything we do.
The successful candidates will be required to work from our two Highway depots in Winsford and Chester and at home as necessary.
We provide an ‘Out of Hours’ Service which will entail you making the decision on our gritting operations and taking calls out of hours acting on them as required. Overtime and Standby allowance are provided for this.
You will help provide cover for the office at times and answer any emergency calls throughout the day from our Contact Centre. A driving licence is essential for these roles as you will be required to attend site meetings throughout the Borough.
