Ebanista & Co | Chelmsford, Essex
Flexible Hours | Hybrid Working Available
About Ebanista & Co
Ebanista & Co designs and manufactures luxury bespoke kitchens, fitted furniture and architectural joinery from our workshop in Essex.
Every project is individually designed and built from scratch using traditional cabinet-making techniques combined with modern manufacturing. We pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail and producing furniture of the highest standard.
As our order book continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Kitchen Designer / Joinery Engineer to join us on a freelance or part-time basis.
This role would suit someone who has worked within a bespoke joinery workshop and understands how handmade kitchens are designed and manufactured—not someone from a volume retail kitchen background.

- Create client approval drawings and 3D visuals.
- Design bespoke handmade kitchens, utility rooms, wardrobes and fitted furniture.
- Produce cutting lists and material schedules.
- Develop practical manufacturing details alongside our workshop team.
- Ensure every project is fully engineered before production begins.
- Work closely with directors, clients and installers throughout each project.
Essential Requirements
You must have:
- Proven experience designing bespoke handmade kitchens.
- A strong understanding of cabinet construction and furniture manufacturing.
- Experience producing manufacturing/workshop drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple live projects.
Software Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is desirable:
- AutoCAD
- Cabinet Vision
- SketchUp
- Fusion 360
- SolidWorks
- Or similar joinery CAD software
We’d Love to Meet Someone Who…

- Has a genuine passion for craftsmanship and quality.
What We Offer
- Flexible freelance or part-time position.
- Competitive hourly or day rate depending on experience.
- Exciting luxury residential projects.
- A friendly, ambitious and growing team.
- Opportunity to help shape the future of a premium British joinery brand.
If you have experience designing and engineering handmade kitchens and would like to work with a company that values craftsmanship and quality, we’d love to hear from you.
