Does this experience include knowledge of contributing to the completion of the statutory government returns for the service, gathering data to facilitate performance management of team or providing training or mentoring for team members?
About the role
We’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Revenues Service as a Revenues Resources, Returns & Performance Senior Officer.
This is a key role supporting the operational delivery and continuous improvement of Council Tax and Business Rates services. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the service meets its statutory obligations, drives performance, and delivers excellent outcomes for residents.
Working closely with the Revenues Operational & Resources Manager, you’ll lead on government returns, performance data, resource coordination, and contract support, while also contributing to service transformation and innovation.
Lead on the completion and analysis of government returns and statutory reporting
- Support the day-to-day operational management of the Revenues service
- Analyse performance data to drive service improvement and efficiency
- Help coordinate resources, training, and workforce development
- Support the procurement and management of key contracts
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders
- Provide cover for Team Leader roles when required
- Ensure compliance with data governance, financial controls, and legislation
- Contribute to policy development and transformational change programmes
What we’re looking for
You’ll bring strong technical expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset as well as a motivational, patient and practical personality to provide training to newly recruited officers.
Essential:
- Extensive knowledge of Council Tax and Business Rates legislation
- Experience applying complex legislation in a practical setting
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and use performance data
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
- Experience in a revenues or similar regulatory environment
Desirable:
- Experience in providing training and guidance to new personnel
You will also occasionally be required to provide cover for Team Leaders within the Revenues Department.
