NYH Property is seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Project Supervisor to support the delivery of complex, high-value construction, refurbishment and regeneration projects across North Yorkshire.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced site management professional who thrives in challenging construction environments and enjoys supervising the delivery of projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

About the Role
Reporting to the Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of construction activities on major project sites, whilst ensuring the highest compliance with health and safety requirements, construction standards and meeting project specifications.
This is a varied role which combines technical construction knowledge, people leadership and strong organisational skills. You will work on-site, closely with project managers, commercial teams, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and stakeholders to maintain progress and resolve operational challenges as they arise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising day-to-day site operations across large-scale capital projects.
- Planning and coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
- Supporting the development and implementation of construction programmes.
- Producing and implementing site-specific RAMS and safe systems of work.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Conducting site inspections, inductions, daily briefings and monitoring activities.
- Monitoring project performance, costs and progress against programme.
- Recording site progress and supporting valuations and reporting requirements.
- Leading, motivating and developing operational staff and trainee supervisors.
- Deputising for the Construction Project Manager when required.
Your First Major Project – Scarborough West Pier
Initially, your primary focus will be leading the delivery of the landmark Scarborough West Pier regeneration project. This is a major conservation-led waterfront redevelopment for North Yorkshire Council of around £10m.
West Pier sits at the heart of Scarborough's South Bay, serving as both a working harbour and a major visitor destination. The regeneration programme will restore historic harbour buildings while delivering modern infrastructure and facilities that support local businesses, harbour users and the wider community.
The scheme includes:
- Restoration and refurbishment of historic harbour buildings.
- New fisheries and commercial accommodation.
- Enhanced public realm and visitor spaces.
- Improved accessibility throughout the pier.
- Infrastructure and utility upgrades.
- Flood resilience and climate adaptation measures.
- Improved facilities supporting the local fishing industry and harbour operations
The project presents a unique combination of:
- Heritage conservation.
- Refurbishment and restoration.
- New-build construction.
- Coastal infrastructure works.
- Utilities and engineering delivery.
- Sustainable regeneration.
Working within a live operational harbour and tourist environment, you'll help coordinate construction activities alongside commercial tenants, harbour users, visitors, local businesses and key stakeholders whilst maintaining safe and efficient site management.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced and hands-on construction supervisor with a proven track record of leading site operations on large-scale building, civil engineering or property projects from design to completion.
You'll bring:
- Significant experience supervising major construction projects within the building, civil engineering, property or construction sectors.
- SMSTS certification and a First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience in either internal works (high-quality finishes and fit-out) or external works such as groundworks, building and infrastructure.
- Experience working on listed buildings, heritage assets or conservation project.
- Strong knowledge of building regulations, construction standards and quality assurance processes.
- A detailed understanding of construction health and safety legislation.
- Excellent communication, leadership and people management skills.
- The ability to solve problems, make decisions and motivate teams in challenging environments.
- Strong IT skills and experience using digital systems for recording and reporting project information.
