A confidential early years setting in the Blackburn area is looking to appoint an experienced Baby Room Leader to support and lead high-quality practice for children under two.
This role would suit someone who already has strong baby room experience and is confident with routines, feeding, sleep, safeguarding, parent communication and supporting other practitioners within the room.
The successful applicant will be joining a setting that is focused on improving standards, supporting staff properly and giving babies a safe, settled and nurturing start.
What you will be doing
As Baby Room Leader, you will take responsibility for the daily organisation and quality of practice within the baby room.
This will include:
- Planning and supporting age-appropriate learning and development
- Making sure babies’ individual routines are followed carefully
- Supporting safe sleep procedures and regular monitoring
- Ensuring feeding, bottles, weaning and dietary needs are managed safely
- Maintaining strong hygiene, cleaning and infection-control standards
- Making sure allergies, medication and care needs are clearly understood by staff
- Supporting key-person practice and strong attachments with babies
- Communicating professionally with parents about routines, progress and care needs
- Helping less experienced staff develop confidence and good practice
- Keeping daily records, observations, handovers and care information up to date
- Working with management to maintain high standards across the room
What we need from you
Applicants must have:
- A Level 3 Early Years qualification or above
- Previous experience working in a baby room
- Experience as a Room Leader, Deputy Room Leader, Senior Practitioner or similar
- Good knowledge of the EYFS
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare
- Confidence with babies’ routines, sleep, feeding and development
- Ability to guide and support other staff
- Strong communication skills with parents and colleagues
- A calm, organised and reliable approach
Additional experience that would be helpful:
- Paediatric First Aid
- Food hygiene training
- SEN experience
- Experience supporting apprentices or junior practitioners
- Experience with Ofsted, quality checks or room audits
Pay and benefits
- £14.00 – £14.75 per hour depending on experience
