MadiganGill are looking for an experienced Support Technician to join a college in Cinderford, GL14, helping to support and mentor construction apprentices.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Support Technician with a strong construction background who wants to pass their knowledge, skills and experience on to the next generation.
You do not need a teaching qualification to apply. We will support you through the relevant qualification to teach in Further Education, and we will arrange the required DBS checks.
- Supporting construction apprentices with their practical and classroom-based learning
- Assisting tutors with the delivery of training and practical sessions
- Sharing your knowledge and experience from working within the construction industry
- Helping apprentices understand practical construction methods and processes
- Preparing and maintaining tools, equipment and materials for practical sessions
- Ensuring tools and equipment are safe, maintained and ready for use
- Supporting apprentices during practical activities
- Demonstrating safe working practices and correct use of equipment
- Helping apprentices develop their practical skills and confidence
- Supporting the delivery of a structured scheme of work
- Assisting with general workshop and training area organisation
- Strong construction background and relevant industry experience
- Previous experience as a Support Technician, Workshop Technician, Tradesperson or similar would be an advantage
- Good practical knowledge of construction tools, equipment and materials
- Ability to demonstrate practical skills and pass knowledge on to apprentices
- Good communication and people skills
- Patient, approachable and confident personality
- Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices
- Previous teaching, training, mentoring or supervisory experience would be an advantage
- Teaching qualification desirable but not essential
Construction experience is more important than teaching experience. We are looking for someone with the practical knowledge and personality to support apprentices and help them develop the skills they need for a career in construction.

Contract: Permanent or contract considered - permanent preferred
Term Time: Option to work term-time only or work throughout the year

Full support will be provided to gain the relevant Further Education teaching qualification.
