Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to lead and manage a children’s home, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and child-centred care.
The Registered Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the home, staff leadership, safeguarding, regulatory compliance and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the children’s home.
- Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
- Provide strong leadership, supervision and support to the staff team.
- Manage recruitment, induction, training, performance and staff rotas.
- Ensure children receive individualised care in line with their care and placement plans.
- Take responsibility for safeguarding, risk assessments and incident management.
- Promote positive outcomes in children's health, education, emotional wellbeing and development.
- Maintain effective relationships with social workers, families, commissioners and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and regulatory documentation.
- Ensure actions from Regulation 44 visits are completed promptly.
- Complete Regulation 45 quality-of-care reviews within required timescales.
- Maintain inspection readiness and develop a positive working relationship with Ofsted.
- Manage complaints and implement learning and service improvements.
- Monitor the home's quality, health and safety and overall performance.
- Manage the home's budget and resources effectively.
- Participate in the on-call rota.
Essential Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Relevant Level 5 qualification for leadership and management of residential childcare, or be working towards the required qualification where appropriate.
- Management or leadership experience within care services.
- Good knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Strong safeguarding and child-protection knowledge.
- Experience managing and developing staff teams.
- Experience with care planning, risk assessment and quality assurance.
- Strong communication, organisation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with social workers, families and multi-agency professionals.
- Ability to demonstrate the suitability and competence required to manage a children’s home.
Desirable
- Previous management experience in an Ofsted-registered children’s home.
- Registered Manager or Deputy Manager experience in residential childcare.
- Experience of Ofsted inspections and SCCIF.
- Practical experience with Regulation 44 and Regulation 45.
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex needs.
