The Role:
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Sewing Machinist to join our garment production team. You will operate industrial straight stitch sewing machines and automated sewing machines to assemble garments or add confection to textile products according to production specifications. This role is essential in ensuring high quality output and maintaining efficient production flow in the department.
Key Responsibilities, Skills and Qualifications:
- Operate industrial sewing machines (e.g., flatbed, overlock, blanket stitch, etc.) to stitch garments according to design and production specifications.
- Follow production sheets, technical packs, or sample garments to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect materials and work for quality defects and report issues to team leader.
- High quality of finished products performed within a timed capacity.
- Handle fabric and materials carefully to minimize waste or damage.
- Perform minor machine maintenance (threading, cleaning, oiling) and report faults to maintenance.
- Follow health, safety, and workplace regulations at all times.
- Work collaboratively with team members and respond to instructions promptly.
- Work with the design team to input on creation and advise make up of products.
- Ability to work with product engineers to develop.
Schedule:
- Temporary Contract (37 hours), working to an annualised schedule.
- Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 16:30pm
- Friday 7:30-12:30pm
- Overtime may be required during peak production periods.
Pay: From £13.45 per hour
