Overview

As an Apprentice IT Technician, you'll provide first-line technical support to staff and students, helping to keep IT systems running smoothly. You'll develop practical skills across hardware, software, networking, and customer service while learning from experienced IT professionals. Every day will bring new challenges and opportunities to grow your knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Service Desk
- Provide first-line technical support to staff and students.
- Respond to IT support requests in person, by phone, and through the helpdesk system.
- Log, monitor, and update support tickets accurately.
- Diagnose and resolve common hardware and software issues.
- Reset user passwords and assist with account access.
- Escalate more complex technical issues when required.
Systems & Equipment
- Set up and configure computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Assist with software installation and updates.
- Help maintain classroom and office technology.
- Support routine maintenance of IT hardware and systems.
- Assist with network and wireless connectivity checks.
Learning, Security & Team Support
- Learn about network administration and IT infrastructure.
- Support good cyber security practices, including password security.
- Help maintain accurate IT documentation and troubleshooting guides.
- Work closely with colleagues to deliver an effective IT support service.
- Build positive relationships with staff, students, and external support providers.
- Take part in training, reviews, and continuous professional development.
Training & Development
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll receive structured training and practical experience, including:
- Developing IT support and troubleshooting skills.
- Learning about hardware, software, networking, and system administration.
- Gaining experience using IT service management and ticketing systems.
- Building communication and customer service skills.
- Working towards a recognised IT apprenticeship qualification.
- Receiving on-the-job mentoring from experienced IT professionals.
