An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join a growing and friendly accountancy practice on a part-time basis. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking for greater flexibility without stepping away from a varied and commercially focused accounting role.
As Part-Time Management Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing management accounts and financial reports, analysing business performance and providing meaningful financial information to both the practice and its clients. You'll work closely with the owner and clients, so we're looking for someone who is confident with numbers but equally comfortable explaining financial information to others.

Part-Time Management Accountant – Job Overview
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Review and analyse P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
- Provide financial insights and commentary to management and clients
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments
- Monitor cash flow and working capital
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns and weekly/monthly payroll reports
- Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Work closely with clients to understand their financial performance and reporting requirements
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities within financial information
- Support improvements to accounting processes, controls and reporting
Part-Time Management Accountant – Skills & Experience Required
- Previous Management Accountant experience is essential, ideally gained within an accountancy practice
- AAT qualified, part-qualified or qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA preferred, although strong relevant experience will also be considered
- Confident preparing and interpreting management accounts
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to explain financial information clearly
- Good Microsoft Excel and accounting software skills
- Experience using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar would be advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident working independently and managing multiple deadlines
- Professional and confident communicating with clients and colleagues
