About The Little Yorkshire Speech Co.
The Little Yorkshire Speech Co. is a specialist paediatric speech and language therapy service based in Sheffield. We are a small, ambitious team with a big focus on doing things properly.
We pride ourselves on providing warm, highly individualised and in-depth assessment and therapy. We take the time to understand the whole child, work closely with their family and build therapy around what will genuinely make a difference to their everyday life.
Our approach is child-led, neuroaffirming and relationship-based, and we are passionate about providing thoughtful, evidence informed therapy rather than a one size fits all service.
We are growing rapidly, but purposefully. Having opened our first dedicated clinic space in Sheffield this year, we are at an exciting stage of our development and are looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey.

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join us for approximately 3 days per week, to start ASAP.
We are open to discussing which days you work and whether you would prefer a term-time or year-round arrangement, because we understand that flexibility can make a huge difference.
We are looking for someone with at least 4 years' post-qualification experience. This is not a newly qualified position.
Your role will include:
- Conducting detailed, thoughtful and holistic speech and language assessments.
- Developing highly individualised therapy plans based on the child's strengths, needs and priorities.
- Delivering engaging, child led one to one therapy.
- Working closely with parents and caregivers, helping them understand their child's communication and giving them practical strategies they can use beyond the therapy room.
- Liaising with schools, nurseries and other professionals where appropriate.
- Monitoring progress and adapting therapy in response to the child's changing needs.
- Producing high quality clinical documentation and reports.
- Contributing to reviews, parent meetings and professional discussions.
- Maintaining excellent clinical and professional standards.
- Keeping up to date with relevant research, approaches and professional development.
- Contributing ideas to the development of our growing service.

- Are an experienced and confident paediatric Speech and Language Therapist.

- Have a strong interest in autism and Gestalt Language Processing.
- Have excellent clinical reasoning and can explain your recommendations clearly to families.
- Are thoughtful and thorough in your assessment, therapy planning and documentation.
- Are comfortable working independently and using your own clinical judgement.
- Are reliable, organised and take responsibility for your caseload.
- Have exceptionally high standards for your own clinical work.
- Communicate warmly and professionally with children, families and colleagues.
- Are open to reflection, feedback and continued learning.
- Enjoy working as part of a small team and are willing to contribute to the wider development of the service.
- Care about the experience a family has with us from their first enquiry through to discharge.

Essential qualifications and experience
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
- Current professional registration with the relevant regulatory body.
- Minimum 4 years' post-qualification experience.
- Strong paediatric clinical experience.
- Experience assessing and treating speech, language and communication needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong clinical documentation and record-keeping skills.
- A clear commitment to child-led, neuroaffirming practice.
- A genuine interest in continued professional development.
Experience and/or particular interest in autism, Gestalt Language Processing, speech sound disorders and complex communication needs would be highly valued.
