Are you the person others naturally turn to during a shift?
Do you notice what needs to be done, support newer colleagues and care when standards are not good enough?
Cherish Able Care is looking for an energetic, reliable and positive care professional who is ready to take the next step into a Senior Carer role.
You may already be working as a Senior Carer. Alternatively, you may be an excellent Carer or Support Worker who regularly takes responsibility but has not yet been given the title, training or opportunity to progress.
Previous senior or management experience is welcome, but it is not essential. We are more interested in your attitude, initiative, reliability and potential to become an excellent senior member of our team.
We can teach you our systems and processes. We can help you develop your leadership skills and gain further qualifications. What we cannot teach is ambition, accountability or a genuinely positive approach to work.
About Cherish Able Care
Cherish Able Care provides personalised care and support across Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath and surrounding areas.
We support adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and other complex or individual support needs.
Our work includes:
- Supported living
- Community-based care and support
- Outreach services
- Complex-care packages
- Domiciliary care
- Support delivered in people’s own homes
This is a hands-on role. You will continue to provide direct care and support while taking additional responsibility for leading shifts, supporting colleagues and promoting consistently high standards.
What will you be doing?
With training and support from our Team Leaders and management team, you will:
- Lead individual shifts and help ensure services run safely and effectively.
- Allocate day-to-day responsibilities and make sure important tasks are completed.
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support.
- Act as a positive role model for other staff.
- Support, guide and encourage newer or less experienced colleagues.
- Help staff understand and follow care plans, support plans and risk assessments.
- Ensure clear and effective handovers take place.
- Monitor the quality and accuracy of daily care records.
- Support safe medication administration and follow medication procedures.
- Respond appropriately to incidents, concerns and changes in a person’s presentation.
- Complete accurate incident reports and escalate concerns promptly.
- Recognise and report potential safeguarding concerns.
- Promote meaningful activities, independence and community engagement.
- Communicate professionally with families, colleagues and other professionals.
- Help maintain safe, clean and welcoming environments.
- Support appointments, activities and community visits.
- Contribute to reviews of care plans and risk assessments.
- Support the induction, shadowing and development of new staff.
- Report concerns about care standards or staff practice to the appropriate Team Leader or manager.
You will not be expected to know everything on your first day. We will provide a structured induction, ongoing support and clear Senior Carer competencies.
Is this job for you?
This could be the right opportunity if:
- You bring energy and a positive attitude to work.
- You are ambitious and want to develop your career.
- You take responsibility rather than waiting for someone else to act.
- You are reliable and follow through on your commitments.
- You maintain high standards even when nobody is watching.
- You communicate clearly, professionally and respectfully.
- You enjoy helping other staff develop.
- You are confident enough to challenge poor practice appropriately.
- You remain calm and solution-focused when situations become difficult.
- You are organised and able to prioritise effectively.
- You welcome feedback and are willing to learn.
- You care about the quality of support people receive—not simply completing a shift.
We are not looking for someone who only wants a higher hourly rate or a different job title. We want someone who is ready to accept greater responsibility and help others provide excellent support.

Right to work and sponsorship
Applicants must already have permission to work at least 40 hours per week in a permanent role in the UK.
Cherish Able Care cannot provide visa sponsorship for this position, either now or in the future. We are therefore unable to consider applicants whose immigration conditions limit them to 20 hours of work per week or who require employer sponsorship.
