You will play an important role in supporting students to develop the professional skills, knowledge and behaviours required for success within the hairdressing industry, while contributing to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Role Summary
As a Lecturer-Hairdressing, you will deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across Hairdressing and Barbering programmes. You will act as a course tutor, supporting students both academically and pastorally, while helping them achieve their full potential.
You will be responsible for planning engaging lessons, monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement activities. Working closely with colleagues, you will help ensure students receive an excellent learning experience and are prepared for progression within the industry.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across Hairdressing and Barbering courses.

Act as a course tutor for a designated caseload of students, providing guidance and pastoral support.

Plan and deliver engaging lessons using innovative teaching methods and learning technologies.

Monitor student attendance, behaviour, progress and achievement, taking appropriate action where required.

Maintain accurate records including assessments, progress tracking, registers and learning plans.

Embed English, maths, equality and diversity, and British Values within teaching and learning activities.

Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.

Support student recruitment activities including Open Days, admissions events and promotional activities.

Develop and maintain links with industry to ensure teaching remains current and relevant.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student success and curriculum development
Essential Criteria
-
Relevant vocational expertise and experience within Hairdressing and/or Barbering.

Experience of teaching, training or assessing learners in an educational or professional environment.

Ability to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment activities.

Commitment to supporting student achievement, progression and wellbeing.

A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards a Certificate in Education with College support.
