And we are seeking an experienced male LSA to provide vital support to our learners at our brand new education site in Draycott, near Cheddar. Due to the particular needs of our learners, we can only accept applications from males for this position.

The role
You will be providing support for individuals and/or small groups of learners on the autism spectrum and with other special educational needs, including in horticulture, animal care and outdoor activities. You will be working with learners who have a range of additional support needs, including special educational needs such as learning disabilities and/or autism. Some learners may have social, emotional and mental health needs.
You will deliver support for learners, as planned and supervised by tutors, demonstrating flexibility and an ability to adapt to the needs of the learner, and actively work with learners towards their individual achievement objectives and success measures.
You will liaise with parents, carers and guardians where appropriate and provide handover information to the staff and carers on any key events or information from the day at the Centre.
Role requirements
For this role you will need to:
- Have at least one year’s experience of working as an LSA or Support Worker in a SEN environment, and have at least one year’s experience of dealing with challenging behaviour
- Be passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people with challenging and complex individual support needs
- Be confident to work in challenging environments and to manage challenging behaviour
- Be non-judgemental, flexible, adaptable, resilient, dependable, calm, empathetic, compassionate, honest, self-motivated and self-assured
- Be able to draw on effective interpersonal skills to relate to, engage and motivate the individual you support creating a positive and stable environment where practical and emotional support needs can be best met.
- Complete administration associated with the role and maintain accurate records.

Working hours
This is a term-time only position. The hours are 37.5 per week, to be worked from Monday to Friday between 8.30 am and 4 pm.
