Supported Accommodation Services in Lancashire
Barnardo's provides supported accommodation to young people aged 16-25 across a number of sites in Lancashire. The services aim to provide young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for independent living. The young people who live in our accommodation are from a range of backgrounds and are often Children Looked After, in the process of Leaving Care or have experienced homelessness. Some of the services are staffed 24 hours per day by a dedicated team. Young people can usually live within our accommodation for up to 2 years so that they can move on successfully to their own accommodation in a planned and coordinated way.
The Role
Where there is a recognised need for children and young people to be in residential care, supported accommodation or supported lodgings, Barnardo's vision is to be the preferred provider of choice. This means achieving high quality levels of care and support to enable children and young people to develop, thrive and achieve through effective management and inspiring leadership.
In this role you will be leading the Moving On service which is currently comprised of:
- 2a High Street and Mariners View
These services are based in Lancaster and provide short-term accommodation-based housing and support to young people. It is comprised of:
- 2a High Street provides 7 units of accommodation. This service is staffed 24/7.
- Mariners View is comprised off 11 1-bed roomed flats and staff provide visiting support
This part of the service relates to 4 shared houses (3 in Preston and 1 in Lancaster) that provide accommodation to up to 13 young people. The houses are owned by Registered Social Landlords and Barnardo's are the managing agent for these premises. All of the young people who live in the houses are 18-25 and have often moved into them as the next step in their journey to independence, having previously lived in supported accommodation with a higher level of support
- Lancashire Supported Lodgings
Barnardo's are commissioned to deliver a service that provides up to 20 Supported Lodgings placements, for 16-24 year olds, across the Lancaster, Wyre, Fylde, Preston, South Ribble, Chorley and West Lancashire districts.
Hosts provide support and accommodation to these young people in their own homes. Each young person also gets support from a dedicated Project Worker.
Moving On is registered with Ofsted and the successful Children's Services Manager will be the Registered Service Manager for this service.
Candidates will need a working knowledge of management within supported accommodation as well as the regulations and inspection frameworks.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the out of hours Management On Call Rota which covers 365 days per year, supporting services to deal with staffing shortages, safeguarding issues and other emergency situations.
