Poultry Farm Operative – Alford Area

Red Recruitment 24:7 is recruiting on behalf of our client for Poultry Farm Operatives to work across several farms in and around the Alford area.
If you're reliable, hardworking, enjoy working outdoors, and are looking for a long-term opportunity in agriculture, we'd love to hear from you. Full training is provided, so previous poultry experience is not essential.
What We Offer
- Competitive pay of £13.00 per hour
- 4 on / 4 off shift pattern available
- Additional shift patterns may also be available, including 6 on / 1 off and 12 on / 2 off
- 7:00am starts
- Typical finish times between 3:30pm and 5:00pm, depending on workload
- Full induction and on-site training provided
- PPE supplied by the client

Please note that you may be required to work across multiple farm sites within approximately 25 miles of Alford.
The Role
As a Poultry Farm Operative, you'll play an important role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and egg production.
Your duties will include:
- Carrying out daily health and welfare checks on chickens
- Collecting eggs and ensuring they move correctly onto conveyor belts
- Monitoring feed and water supplies
- Identifying and reporting sick or injured birds
- Removing deceased birds in accordance with welfare procedures
- Walking outdoor ranges to inspect fencing and bird welfare
- Packing eggs and removing damaged or rejected eggs
- Cleaning poultry sheds and work areas, including brushing and mopping
- Maintaining excellent hygiene, biosecurity, and welfare standards at all times
What We're Looking For
We're looking for candidates who are:
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Physically fit and comfortable working on their feet throughout the day
- Comfortable working around animals in an agricultural environment
- Committed to maintaining high animal welfare standards
- Willing to wear PPE, including paper overalls and face masks where required
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have their own transport (essential)
Please note: Due to the nature of the working environment, this role is not suitable for candidates with breathing-related conditions such as asthma.

- While there are no canteen facilities on site, all farms have access to a kettle and microwave, with some also providing fridge facilities
