Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated maintenance/handy-person to join our friendly team within our small privately owned Residential Care Home. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, have enthusiasm, and a desire to do things right to maintain and improve the environment for our elderly residents. This role involves undertaking routing tasks like health and safety checks, PAT testing, fire safety and legionella management, together with maintenance and management of works to the premises including decorating, repairs, overseeing heating, plumbing and electrical works. The successful applicant will contribute to creating a positive environment and support the continued success of our "Good" rated care home
Duties
- Management and maintenance of the fabric and structure of the premises and its systems including fire, water, plumbing, electrical and heating systems.
- To assist the manager to satisfy all health and safety requirements relating to the buildings and grounds, and to undertake inspections/audits to identify maintenance or repairs requiring attention.
- Maintain the home as a pleasant, friendly, safe and secure place to live.
- Complete monthly, weekly and daily routine checks on fire, water, electrical systems, and maintain records for Health and Safety/COSHH.
- Requirements
- Proven experience in a property maintenance environment.
- Pro-active and able to management own workload.
- Able to undertake audits and checks and document accurately, reporting back to management.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure
- Passion, pride and empathic qualities to fit in with staff and residents
- Previous experience in an elderly care home is highly desirable
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £14.30-£16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
