Sidestrand Hall School is a Complex Needs school providing education to pupils aged 7-19 years. We are seeking a caring, committed and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our classroom and pastoral team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping pupils access learning, supporting inclusion, and contributing to a positive, purposeful school environment.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development under the direction of teachers and senior staff. You will play a vital part in ensuring pupils feel safe, included and able to thrive across the school day.
Pupil Profile: Varied, including speech and communication difficulties, autistic spectrum condition, social and emotional mental health needs, and learning difficulties.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to learners with a range of complex special educational needs.
- Support students with speech and communication difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, social and emotional mental health needs, and learning difficulties.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive learning environment.
- Assist in the delivery of tailored educational activities and interventions.
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Contribute to the assessment and tracking of student progress.
Candidate Profile:
- Enthusiastic and motivated individual with a genuine interest in working with learners with special educational needs.
- Flexible approach to work, able to adapt to the varying needs of students.
- Experience and understanding of special educational needs, autism spectrum disorder, and safeguarding.
- Highly motivated with a commitment to supporting student development.
- Excellent teamwork skills, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Committed to their own professional development, with a willingness to learn and grow in their role as a Teaching Assistant.
