The Position
James Walker are looking to recruit one Laboratory Technician on a permanent contract. This role will be within the Laboratory Department based at the Cockermouth Manufacturing Business Unit.
The full time working hours are 37 per week on day shift (Monday to Thursday 09.00 am to 5.00 pm and Fridays 09.00 am to 1.00 pm/ 3.00 pm worked alternate weeks) . The full time salary is £28,396.46 per annum.
Key responsibilities
· Stage one sample preparation and testing including –
o Moulding test sheets
o Moulding hardness test pieces
o Use of rheometers
o Use of Oracle system
· Stage two sample preparation and testing including –
o Accurate preparation of die cut samples from test sheets
o Use of Tinius Oslen tensometer
o Ability to carry out compression set testing
· Use of hardness testing machines
· Accurate recording of results
· Bringing any problems to the attention of the Team Leader/Laboratory Manager.
· Responsibility of quality of own work
Experience/Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science
- Previous experience of working within a Laboratory environment would be preferred but is not essential
- A flexible approach to duties
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to pay particular attention to detail and quality of work
- The ability to build great relationships
- A pro-active approach to work and getting things done
