What You'll Be Doing
As our Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the successful commercial delivery of rail projects by:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly valuations, interim and final accounts, payment applications and cost reconciliations.
- Supporting the commercial management of multiple contracts.
- Helping to produce accurate cost forecasts, valuations and cash flow reports.
- Assisting with the management of contract variations.
- Supporting tender preparation and commercial submissions.
- Preparing subcontract work packages in line with procurement programmes.
- Reviewing contract documentation, drawings and bills of quantities to identify commercial risks and ensure compliance.
- Carrying out site measurements and assisting with the valuation of completed works.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Attending site meetings and supporting the commercial team throughout project delivery.
- Working closely with Project Managers and Contract Managers to record contractual events and protect the company's commercial position.
- Liaising with internal departments to support timely payments and financial administration.
- Assisting with subcontractor selection in line with company quality and safety procedures.
- Supporting operational teams with documentation and other commercial activities as required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.
- Working towards, or holding, a Degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
- Good understanding of commercial contracts and construction principles.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, professional and collaborative approach.
Desirable
- Previous experience within the rail or civil engineering sector.
