Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking General Practitioner to join our growing multidisciplinary team on a part-time basis.
This is a growth vacancy rather than a replacement post, reflecting our continued investment in clinical capacity and our commitment to improving continuity of care for our patient population of approximately 15,500 patients.
We are looking for a GP who shares our passion for delivering high-quality patient care, embraces innovation and is keen to contribute to the future development of modern general practice. The number of sessions and remuneration package will be discussed at interview and can be tailored according to experience and any additional leadership or educational responsibilities.
This role offers a varied and rewarding clinical workload, including routine consultations, triage responsibilities and associated clinical administration, supported by technology-enabled systems designed to reduce administrative burden and maximise time spent on patient care.
Why Join Us / About Us
We are a progressive GP training practice serving approximately 15,500 patients across our three sites in Shoeburyness, Thorpe Bay and Westcliff-on-Sea (All in the city of Southend-on-Sea). Our multidisciplinary team includes a GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Prescribing Nurses, Physician Associate, a Clinical Pharmacy team and a highly skilled administrative and care navigation team.
We are proud of our stable and experienced workforce and believe that creating a supportive, sustainable and rewarding working environment is key to delivering excellent patient care and continuity for our patients.
As one of the earliest adopters of Anima total triage in the region, we have established ourselves as lead0 care and continue to explore emerging technologies, including AI-supported workflows, to improve patient care and reduce unnecessary administrative burden. We welcome clinicians who are excited by innovation and keen to help shape the future of primary care.
We have worked hard to develop systems that minimise unnecessary administrative burden on GPs. Administrative workflows are supported across the wider team, allowing GPs to focus on complex clinical decision-making and patient care.
Unlike many practices, we do not operate a traditional duty doctor rota. Same-day demand is managed through a collaborative multidisciplinary triage team supported by experienced clinical and non-clinical colleagues, creating a more sustainable and predictable working day for clinicians.
Education and professional development are central to our culture. We offer paid CPD time which includes monthly protected "Time to Learn" sessions and additional monthly clinical teaching built into the rota. As a GP training practice, we support GP Registrars and actively encourage clinicians who wish to develop teaching and trainer roles. We also welcome medical students and nursing students on placements.
We currently provide dedicated services in multiple areas including but not limited to Women's Health, coil fitting clinic, joint injections, headache management, smoking cessation. We welcome applicants who wish to further develop existing services or establish new areas of expertise.
We value clinicians who bring ideas, enthusiasm and initiative. Whether your interests lie in service redesign, digital innovation, education, community engagement, quality improvement or developing a specialist clinical service, we actively encourage new ideas and support clinicians in turning them into reality.
For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to develop leadership responsibilities in areas such as clinical leadership, education, service development, quality improvement and digital transformation.
Beyond the practice, we are actively involved in our local community through health promotion initiatives, health fairs, outreach events and CPR education programmes. We welcome clinicians who share our commitment to improving health outcomes both inside and outside the consulting room.
All of our sites benefit from easy parking, helping make the working day as convenient and efficient as possible.
