Main Purpose of the Job
The purpose of the Estimator is to provide estimates for the costs of a project, products, and services. The Estimator will be researching prices of the various components and obtaining estimates and quotes from vendors and contractors, as well as considering time related costs within design, project management and installation. The Estimator will support the sales team with proposals, tracking costs, and to understand the customer’s specifications to calculate the final budget for the project, product, or service. The Estimator will be expected to present their analysis to the Senior Management team.
Main Duties
- Work from technical drawings and specifications to produce concise and effective technical proposals in response to customer requests
- To deliver accurate tenders with commercial aspects in mind, while also delivering to client requirements
- To research and present different methods of reducing cost through supply chain, method of fabrication, installation, or value engineering
- Maintain the tender product documentation including internal Governance requirements
- When required to support the sales team in attendance in meetings with our customers including delivery of technical presentations as well as participation in engineering and commercial discussions.
- Development of standardised documentation for on-going proposal use
- To attend the monthly contract review meetings
- Support the Sales and Operational department leads to identify and collate project risks
- Consult with internal resources and external partners to build tender cost models
- Consult with department leads to organise tender governance meetings
- Manage all successful tenders with the operational delivery team
- Be proactive when following up on feedback and orders from submitted quotes
- The ability to work under pressure to meet set goals, budgets and deadlines
- Strong understanding of the residential construction process
- Assessing the risk levels associated with a project
- Visiting project sites to gather information
- Engage with our supply chain to provide achievable and value for money solutions to customers requirements
- Continuously improve through feedback and lessons learnt from completed jobs and unsuccessful tenders
- Possess in-depth product knowledge of our product range and be able to identify new product opportunities

Qualifications
- A Level qualification in Maths and English
- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or/and mechanical engineering
- Bachelor's degree in estimator field
Relevant Experience
- A methodical approach to work
- Understanding of engineering documents
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Knowledge of CAD software
- Experience of the strucutural and architectural steelwork market
Skills
- Strong analytic abilities
- Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and word processing programs
- Ability to coordinate and work independently
- Exquisite math and IT ability with an analytical mindset

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
