We are looking for a motivated Junior Buyer to join our fast-growing OTC and Health & Beauty team. The Junior Buyer will support Buyers and Senior Buyers in both a procurement and administrative capacity. You will also manage your own suppliers and support commercial negotiations with guidance from Senior Buyers.
Reporting to the Category Lead, you will work closely with the wider purchasing team to help achieve key targets and objectives. The role focuses on supporting cost-effective procurement activity and contributing to the delivery of a value-for-money supply base for the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with the teams to identify business procurement requirements including research, sourcing, and procurement from qualified suppliers under GDP guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders including assistants, supply chain & warehouse teams, and production teams.
- To enhance their career and professional development through mentoring and coaching from the Senior Buyer(s) and Category Lead.
- Negotiate the purchase of products and quantities set out as per Company portfolio & guidelines and ensuring all deliveries at the correct time with most competitive prices to improve purchase cost.
- To plan and prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with company targets and requirements.
- Accurate and sustainable forecasting and planning stock levels based on trends, budgets, seasonality and promotions under the guidance of the Senior Buyer(s).
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers / licenses and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
- Research on new products and licenses as per opportunities arising.
- Assist Senior Buyer(s) and Directors in the implementation of technology and governance.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
- Category, price, margin analysis and reporting.
- Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
- Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and advise others of any impact
- Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, when there is a risk which could prevent the company meeting customer demands or where there are over capacity concerns. Support product change requests and review and communicate the impact on capacity plans
- Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers and accuracy.
