We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Anaesthetic Practitioner (Nurse/ODP) to join our Theatre team at our hospital at Shepton Mallet.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, delivering outstanding patient care in a modern surgical environment. You'll play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their peri-operative journey, ensuring the highest standards of safety, clinical excellence and patient experience are maintained at all times.
This role is working 37.5 hours per week over 4 days, with shifts scheduled Monday to Saturday between 07:00 and 17:00.

As our Anaesthetic Practitioner (Nurse/ODP), you will be:
- Delivering high-quality anaesthetic care and support within the theatre department.
- Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, ODPs and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Providing clinical leadership, guidance and support to junior colleagues and students.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Supporting infection prevention and control practices within theatre environments.
- Participating in clinical governance, audits, quality improvement initiatives and KPI reporting.
- Acting as part of the resuscitation team and maintaining relevant life support competencies.
- Assisting with staff education, mentoring and the development of theatre best practice.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of theatre services and patient pathways.
As an NMC-registered Nurse or HCPC-registered ODP, you'll bring proven experience within a theatre environment, alongside:
- Specialist theatre training such as ENB 183/176 or an equivalent qualification
- Confident and compassionate practitioner with excellent communication skills, able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and remain calm under pressure
- A flexible, proactive approach and a commitment to maintaining the highest clinical standards
What you can expect in return
