Help Children Thrive in a Supportive School Environment
A welcoming and inclusive primary school near Ross-on-Wye is looking to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school is holding interviews and trial days immediately, with flexibility to start as soon as possible or at the beginning of the new academic term.
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them achieve their full potential. You'll work with pupils aged 3–11 years, providing tailored support to help them succeed both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
- Adapt classroom activities to help children access the curriculum.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and positive participation throughout the school day.
- Support pupils with Autism, speech and language needs, SEMH, and other Special Educational Needs.
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other professionals to deliver personalised support.
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with personal care and daily routines where required.
- Monitor progress and contribute to pupil observations and support plans.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working with children or young people in schools, nurseries, childcare, care, youth work, or a similar setting.
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, speech and language needs, or inclusive education.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or qualifications in Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred – you need to be able to reach the schools in your area).
- Welsh language skills.
