Albany Housing is a London-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing homelessness. We work closely with vulnerable and socially excluded individuals, providing them with the support they need to transform their lives. We are looking for a dedicated, part-time Maintenance Operative to join our team and help us maintain safe, comfortable environments for our residents.
In this role, no two days are the same. Working directly within our schemes and properties, you will address maintenance concerns and repairs reported by staff or residents, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
Because you will be working closely with vulnerable individuals, this role requires far more than just technical skill. We are looking for someone who can deliver a sensitive, client-centered service, making a real difference to our residents' recovery, dignity, and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out day-to-day property maintenance and high-quality repairs as reported by staff and residents.
- Deliver a compassionate, client-focused service, exercising patience, empathy, and strong professional boundaries at all times.
- Contribute to risk and needs assessments to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
- Uphold robust safeguarding standards in line with organisational policies.
What We Are Looking For:
- Sector Experience: Recent experience in a similar maintenance role within the housing, charity, or social care sectors is highly desirable.
- The Right Attitude: You are self-motivated, hard-working, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Safeguarding Knowledge: A sound, current understanding of safeguarding issues and the unique needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Compliance & Mobility: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. You must also be able to provide evidence/portfolio of previous maintenance work.
This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
