At Thornford Park we treat a diverse group of patients with varying degrees of mental and physical issues. Our adult male service users are detained in conditions of low and medium security and PICU services, and our work includes treating patients with personality disorders and those who represent a risk to themselves and others.

Our Bank Healthcare Assistant role involves:
Assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans
Undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the well-being, dignity and treatment of all patients
Providing practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities, ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation
Observing and monitoring the well-being of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate
Developing and maintaining a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors
Responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries
As a Healthcare Assistant you will work as part of a multi disciplinary team to deliver high quality personal and psychological nursing care to our service users, this includes acting as a hospital driver and patient escort. It is important that candidates can demonstrate high levels of mental resilience in order to work in a changing and often challenging environment, it is also a mandatory requirement that candidates can successfully complete our mandatory training programme which includes learning physical intervention techniques for managing violence and aggression.
To be successful as a Bank Healthcare Assistant, you’ll need:
To be highly committed
Excellent interpersonal skills
A desire to work with vulnerable adults/in the care industry
The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional boundaries at all times
Experience of working in a health care role, but not necessarily in the mental health/forensic sector as full training will be given.
