Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Controller and Relief Picking Operative to join our team. This dual-role position offers an exciting opportunity to ensure our products meet rigorous quality standards while supporting our warehouse operations through relief picking duties. The ideal candidate will be energetic, thorough, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ warehouse/distribution experience.
- Previous experience in a quality control, checking, picking or dispatch role.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse processes and stock control.
- Proven ability to pick orders accurately and meet productivity/accuracy KPIs.
- Experience checking product, quantities, product codes and customer orders before dispatch.
- Experience using RF scanners / handheld warehouse systems.
- Articulated FLT licence – essential.
- Good understanding of safe FLT operation and warehouse health & safety.
- Ability to identify and report damaged, incorrect or poor-quality stock.
- Experience investigating stock discrepancies and picking errors.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when quality issues are identified.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- A positive “clean as you go” attitude.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
Desirable for a flooring distributor:
- Previous flooring industry experience.
- Knowledge of carpet, vinyl, LVT, laminate, wood flooring and accessories.
- Experience handling and checking vinyl rolls.
- Experience with roll measurements, cutting and identification of flooring products.
- Knowledge of common flooring defects and damage.
- Experience with goods-in, goods-out and dispatch checking.
- Experience completing quality/stock control paperwork and digital records.
- Experience training or supporting other warehouse operatives.
- Previous responsibility for final checks before customer dispatch.
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
