Experienced Motorcycle Technician – Suffolk Triumph
Join the Suffolk Triumph Workshop Team
Suffolk Triumph is looking for an experienced Motorcycle Technician to join our established team in Ipswich.
This is an opportunity for an experienced motorcycle mechanic / technician who takes pride in their work, enjoys working with motorcycles and wants to develop their career within a professional franchised dealership environment.
Previous Triumph experience is not required.
You may currently work for another motorcycle manufacturer, a multi-brand dealership or an independent motorcycle workshop. What matters to us is that you already have professional motorcycle workshop experience, strong mechanical ability and the right attitude towards customers and quality of work.
The Role
As a Motorcycle Technician at Suffolk Triumph, you'll work on a wide variety of motorcycles, carrying out everything from routine servicing and preparation through to mechanical repairs and fault diagnosis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing and maintaining customer motorcycles
- Mechanical repairs and component replacement
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Electrical diagnosis and repair
- Carrying out manufacturer recalls, updates and campaigns
- Completing motorcycle health checks and identifying additional work
- Preparing new motorcycles prior to customer handover
- Preparing used motorcycles for retail sale
- Fitting genuine Triumph accessories and additional equipment
- Accurately recording work carried out and parts required
- Working efficiently to agreed workshop and manufacturer standards
- Communicating effectively with our Service Advisors and wider aftersales team
- Maintaining a clean, organised and professional working environment
What We're Looking For
For this position, previous professional motorcycle mechanic or technician experience is essential.
We're happy to consider applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Franchised motorcycle dealerships
- Independent motorcycle workshops
- Multi-brand motorcycle dealerships
- Motorcycle servicing and repair businesses
You do not need to already be a Triumph-trained technician.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has proven professional experience servicing and repairing motorcycles
- Is confident carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Has good fault-finding and diagnostic ability
- Has experience working with modern motorcycles
- Takes pride in completing work to a high standard
- Can work independently as well as part of a team
- Understands the importance of workshop productivity and efficiency
- Communicates well with colleagues
- Is willing to undertake ongoing manufacturer training
- Has a genuine interest and enthusiasm for motorcycles
- Holds a full motorcycle licence
Essential Requirements
A full motorcycle licence and previous professional motorcycle mechanic/technician experience are essential for this position.
Formal motorcycle qualifications are advantageous, but we recognise that excellent technicians can build their skills through different routes. We are therefore equally interested in your practical experience, technical ability and track record within the motorcycle industry.
No Triumph Experience? No Problem.
You don't need to arrive knowing every Triumph model inside out.
If your experience has been working with Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW, Ducati, KTM or a mixture of manufacturers within an independent environment, we'd still like to hear from you.
We'll provide the appropriate Triumph product, technical and diagnostic training to build on your existing motorcycle knowledge and experience.
Coming From an Independent Workshop?
If you've developed your skills within an independent motorcycle workshop and are considering the next step in your career, this could be a great opportunity.
Moving into the Triumph dealer network can give you access to manufacturer training, specialist diagnostic equipment, technical information and support while allowing you to continue doing what you enjoy — working on motorcycles.
We're interested in what you can do, not simply the badge that's currently above the workshop door.
Why Suffolk Triumph?
You'll be joining an established Triumph dealership and working with one of the world's most recognised motorcycle brands.
The Triumph range gives our technicians plenty of variety, from Modern Classics and Roadsters through to Adventure, Touring and high-performance motorcycles.
You'll become part of an established aftersales team with the opportunity to continue developing your technical skills through the Triumph training programme.
