We are a leading construction material testing laboratory dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in our operations. As part of our commitment to excellence, we are looking for a skilled Laboratory/Site Technician to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Training and Competency
- Ensure proper qualification and technical training are in place to perform assigned activities unsupervised.
- Assist with the training and development of new Laboratory or Site Technicians to maintain consistent competency across the team.
2. Compliance with Standards and Procedures
- Ensure correct and up-to-date worksheets, test method procedures, and calibrated equipment are used in accordance with relevant BS/EN/ISO standards.
3. Daily Equipment Verification
- Perform daily checks on ovens and balances, ensuring equipment is within calibration and fit for use before testing.
- Record all checks on the relevant data sheets.
4. Testing Activities
- Carry out soils, aggregate and concrete testing within the laboratory or on site as required.
- Follow standardised methods and good laboratory practices to ensure reliable results.
5. Good Laboratory Practice
- Maintain high standards of laboratory practice to ensure accurate and reliable test outcomes.
- Work collaboratively within a team or independently as required.
6. Nonconformity Reporting
- Report all nonconformities promptly to the Laboratory Manager or the Quality Management (QM) Team.
7. Audit Participation
- Support UKAS audit demonstrations and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements during audits.
Competence Requirements:
Education and Qualifications: Certificate or diploma in laboratory technology or a related field (preferred)
Training: On-the-job training in ISO/IEC 170725:2017 and laboratory activities (preferred)
Experience: 1+ year in laboratory/site testing (preferred)
Skills and Attributes: Good laboratory practices, accuracy and teamwork.
