Role summary
Nova Healthcare Solutions Ltd (NovaHS) is a CQC registered organisation that provides remote support to primary healthcare services through workflow management and medicines optimisation.
The Business Development Manager role is dedicated to the growth of development opportunities for the business. Duties involve identifying and building new growth opportunities, increasing revenue streams, pro-active meetings with prospective clients and maintaining excellent relationships with existing clients.
The role is fully remote working with the occasional requirement to meet in person for events, customer meetings and training. Full training is provided.
Main duties and responsibilities
Brand, service and product visibility and promotion
- To proactively design and implement marketing campaigns with the aim to increase Initial Meetings between NovaHS management and prospective new customers.
- To proactively identify, develop and/or acquire new business opportunities.
- To proactively identify key stakeholders to forward the promotion of products, services and the NovaHS brand.
- To proactively identify procurement frameworks and lead projects to ensure NovaHS is accepted onto them.
- To take a leading role acting as a brand ambassador at Initial Meetings with prospective clients, attending conferences and events, building relationships with industry partners and reporting back on market trends.
- To ensure PR, Marketing and Comms are considered in business decisions – inclusive of leading on the creation and distribution of social media and marketing materials.
- To investigate and publicise company goodwill gestures.
- To identify relevant awards to ensure NovaHS receives appropriate recognition for services provided.
- To both contribute and encourage team contribution towards service improvement and achieving and maintaining CQC standards.
- To represent the organisation positively at all times in communication and meetings with professional and external agencies.
- To address issues of quality, risk assess own performance and take accountability for own actions and those of their team either directly or under supervision.
- To work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients' needs as required.
- To effectively manage own time, workload and resources.
Administration
- To prepare a robust Marketing, PR & Communication plan for the consideration of the Executive Management Team and oversee its implementation following sign off.
- To effectively use the IT software provided, check emails daily and keep accurate records.
Finance
- To ensure that all spending maintains value for money and remains in line with the approved Marketing, PR and Communication plan.
- To keep accurate accounts of all personal and business expenditure required for the role.
Customer care
- To pro-actively contact existing and prospective clients and key stakeholders on a timely basis, to maintain and develop relationships and gather positive feedback and areas of development.
- To work with current and prospective clients to discuss how the organisation may be of benefit to them.
- To contribute effectively to delivering a first-class patient focused service.
- To follow the organisation’s complaint reporting procedures always taking ownership and highlighting any errors made.
Miscellaneous
- To carry out efficiently all associated tasks to support the smooth running of the service that may be assigned to you by the Senior Management Team.
- To ensure adherence to Disclosure and Barring Service Checks
- To ensure adherence to lone working procedures as required.
- To maintain a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Education, Qualifications, Memberships
Essential:
- GCSE-level or equivalent relevant qualifications/experience.
- Good literacy skills to read a variety of documents and write appropriate notes.
- Good numeracy skills to scrutinise staff claim sheets and invoices.
- Willingness to undertake training appropriate to the post.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in project management or business development
Experience
Essential:
- Experience in sales and/or account management.
- Experience working with primary or secondary care.
- Experience working with others to achieve a common goal.
- Experience creating and running marketing campaigns.
- Experience selling products and services to NHS organisations (ideally primary care GP surgeries, PCNs, ICBs).
- Experience maintaining relationships with NHS organisations (ideally primary care GP surgeries, PCNs, ICBs).
Desirable:
- Previous experience managing staff.
Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
- Knowledge of Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulations, the need for confidentiality and to treat data with sensitivity.
- IT skills in Microsoft applications.
- An ability to analyse data, information and problems and provide informed decisions on a timely basis whilst using own initiative within set parameters.
- An ability to liaise and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals both verbally and in writing using tact and sensitivity at all times.
- The ability to assess the information available to ensure appropriate use and present information in an easily understandable way appropriate to a variety of audiences.
- The ability to work effectively in different contexts and situations, changing own approach in line with a changing environment.
- A commitment to understanding, respecting and valuing others and responding to their unique needs.
Desirable:
- Experience using SystmOne, Emis, Docman
- Experience with the types of tools that improve efficiency within the role (e.g. Google Search Console, Good Analytics, Google Ad Words, Ahrefs, Claude, Vuelio, LinkedIN, MailChimp, Canva etc)

Essential:
- This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
