About the Role
We are seeking proactive and professional Security Officers to join the 24/7 Security Service at Queen Mary University of London.
As a front-line member of the team, you will play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our students, staff, visitors and wider campus community.
You will provide a visible and responsive security presence across the University, including patrols, incident response, support to students and staff, and assistance during emergency situations.
The role is part of a 24/7 operational Security Service and requires shift working. This includes day shifts, night shifts, weekends, public holidays and occasional changes to shift patterns to meet operational requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a first responder to incidents, including fire alarms, intruder alarms and welfare concerns
- Carrying out patrols with strong awareness of safety risks and suspicious activity
- Supporting incident response procedures, including evacuation and lockdown arrangements
- Providing information, guidance and assistance to students, staff and visitors
- Monitoring CCTV and security systems where required
- Completing incident reports and maintaining accurate records

About You
We are looking for individuals who are professional, approachable and able to remain calm under pressure.
You will have experience in a customer-facing, security, facilities or public-facing role, and be confident dealing with a wide range of situations, including vulnerable individuals, challenging behaviour and emergency incidents.
You must be able and willing to work a 24/7 shift pattern, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
