Chemical Operator
Location: Cambuslang

A rotating shift pattern operates between 05-45 am and 08-00 pm
Job Purpose
To safely operate and monitor plant equipment and production processes to manufacture chemical products in line with company quality standards, customer requirements, and Health & Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor chemical processing equipment, machinery, and plant systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Carry out plant start-up and shutdown procedures safely and efficiently.
- Ensure products are manufactured to the correct specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
- Work in compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality, and 5S procedures at all times.
- Safely handle raw materials, chemicals, and finished products, including manual handling duties where required.
- Complete routine plant inspections and report any faults, defects, or maintenance issues immediately to the appropriate Manager.
- Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and production areas.
- Accurately complete production records, batch sheets, and operational documentation.
- Ensure all vehicle movements and loading/unloading activities are carried out safely and in line with site procedures.
- Follow customer requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) where applicable.
- Work collaboratively with the Technical Manager and production team to improve efficiency, quality, and safety performance.
- Wear and maintain the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production and operational areas.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing, chemical, or production environment.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
Desirable
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
- Experience operating mixing, blending, or processing equipment.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations and chemical handling procedures.
- Experience working within ISO or quality-controlled environments.
Working Conditions
