The Role
We’re looking for an experienced, calm, and compassionate Positive Behaviour Support Worker to join us. This is a demanding but genuinely rewarding role where you’ll see the difference you make every day.
You’ll work directly alongside our Positive Behaviour Manager — a real opportunity for the right person to learn from an experienced specialist and grow their own skills and practice. You don’t need to write behaviour plans yourself, but you do need to understand, follow, and apply them confidently and consistently.
As a PBS Worker, you will:
- Deliver tailored, person-centred support to individuals with complex needs
- Manage behaviours that challenge in all forms with a calm, respectful, and measured approach (full training will be provided)
- Follow and apply PBS principles consistently to prevent, de-escalate, and safely manage behaviours that challenge
- Implement and help review personalised support plans, behaviour management strategies, and risk assessments
- Provide practical and emotional support, building trust and resilience
- Teach and model everyday living and life skills in a way each person can understand and engage with
- Support participation in structured social, educational, and leisure activities
- Respond effectively in moments of crisis or distress, always prioritising safety and dignity
- Work closely with our Positive Behaviour Manager, the wider team, families, and external professionals to keep support consistent and high quality
- Keep clear, accurate records — incident reports, progress logs, and support plan reviews

Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working directly with individuals with autism
- Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting people with behaviours that challenge / complex behavioural needs
- Confident following and applying Positive Behaviour Support plans and behaviour management strategies
- Strong crisis management skills — calm, consistent, and effective under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- A full UK driving licence — you’ll drive the individual’s own vehicle (provided as part of their support package) as part of the role, so this is essential
Desirable:
- Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care or a related field
- Experience in a care, education, residential, or adult day service setting
Training & Induction
Full training will be provided to support you in managing behaviours that challenge with a calm, respectful, and measured approach. Successful candidates will also complete a structured induction week, which will be arranged as soon as a clear enhanced DBS check is confirmed.
