Main purpose of job role:
To ensure the organisation consistently complies with health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures, creating a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The Health and Safety Coordinator supports the development and implementation of health and safety initiatives across the Wrexham site, driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance while also supporting environmental and facilities management activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards across all operational and office areas.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, & near misses, preparing reports and recommendations.
- Monitor compliance with local, regional, and health and safety legislation.
- Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, & relevant training sessions to staff.
- Liaise with external training providers to organise courses for H&S subjects
- Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents and training.
- Support emergency planning and drills, ensuring preparedness for fire, evacuation, and first aid scenarios.
- Collaborate with managers and supervisors to promote a strong safety culture using the Porvair Sciences’ Safety Principles.
- Recommend corrective actions and track the implementation of safety improvements.
- Lead practical environmental improvement programmes across the site.
- Coordinate general facilities maintenance and manage external contractors.
- Liaise with external auditors during inspections and compliance audits.
- Opportunity for travel to conduct safety audits across group sites.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
· NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
· Proven experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing environment.
· Good knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices (e.g. COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR).
· Strong report writing and communication skills.
· Competent in Microsoft Office suite applications.
Desirable:
· First Aid at Work qualification
· IOSH membership
