Royal Mail’s current enterprise technology landscape is fragmented, heavily customised, and nearing end-of-life, creating material risk to operations and compliance. Royal Mail’s core ERP and associated SAP systems for Finance, HR, and Commercial were implemented more than 20 years ago and are now approaching end-of-life, with vendor support ending soon.
These challenges manifest as:
-
Manual and inefficient Finance, HR, and Commercial processes
-
Fragmented data and lack of real-time insight
-
Outdated architecture driving high cost and operational risk
-
Limited ability to adopt emerging technologies or adapt to market change
The multi-year Future ERP Programme will implement SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM) through a phased approach. It will first deliver Accelerated Finance, replacing out-of-life finance systems with a Minimum Viable Product that forms the foundation for subsequent phases, followed by Enhanced Finance, HR Core, and Commercial Transformation.
