The CTM School Nurse Service is seeking a motivated autonomous, and resilient band 5 immunisation Nurse to join the team. This term-time post is 30 hours over 5 days. The role supports delivery of school aged immunisations in Merthyr Cynon whilst contributing to a one team approach across the health board. The current base in Keir Hardie Health Park, though this may change.
The post holder will work confidently within a skill mix team and respond to the needs of a developing service. Immunisation delivery will take place in schools and community settings, aligned to the Welsh Government school age immunisation schedule and Healthy Child Wales Programme 2. During periods of low immunisation activity, band 5 nurses will support the broader public health role of the School Nursing Service.
Applicants should be committed to professional development and willing to undertake role specific training. A structure induction and mentorship programme will be provided to support achievement of required competencies.
Please note : We welcome applications from registered nurses; however, this role is not suitable for student nurses who have not yet obtained NMC registration. Candidates must be registered with the NMC at the point of application.
To provide high standard of evidence-based care in the delivery of childhood vaccinations in school and community settings.
Develop and maintain good communication and relationships with partners, for example Cwm Taf Morgannwg wide schools and primary care.
Undertake training programmes for immunisations schedules which include storage and administration of vaccines and gaining consent.
Promote the National Immunisation Programme and take all opportunities to increase the uptake and advise parents about the immunisation schedule.
To attend relevant immunisation meetings to report on immunisation issues.
Support with the delivery of the wider public health role of the school nursing service.
